Mid Day Meal Scheme and IMMS Mobile App
The Government of India introduced the Mid Day Meal Scheme to support underprivileged students in both rural and urban areas. This initiative addresses critical concerns such as inadequate nutrition, food insecurity, and limited access to education.
To ensure smooth implementation, the Integrated Mid Day Meal & School Sanitation Monitoring System (IMMS) mobile application was developed. This app enables schools to report daily and monthly mid-day meal data quickly and accurately. Once installed on an Android device, the application requires an internet connection to transmit the figures. The designated Mid Day Meal (MDM) in-charge can log in with their credentials and input the daily student attendance along with the count of meals served.
This process reduces the workload for school-level staff while enabling higher authorities—at block, district, and state levels—to monitor meal distribution through a straightforward web portal. Using this platform, officials can review attendance and meal data to determine the required allocation of food grains to each school.
The IMMS system also enhances accountability and transparency by ensuring that only genuine student and teacher records are used, effectively eliminating the problem of ghost entries. As a result, food delivery and consumption tracking become more reliable and efficient.
