II. ABOUT NMMS SCHEME

The **National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS)** is a centrally sponsored initiative by the Ministry for Human Resource Development, Government of India. The primary objective is to select meritorious candidates from economically weaker sections to receive a scholarship.

Every year, **1,00,000 students** are selected throughout India.

Andhra Pradesh is allotted **4087 scholarships**, distributed among districts based on enrollment in VII & VIII Classes and Child population.

The examination is conducted by the Director of Government Examinations, Andhra Pradesh, for students studying **VIII Class** in Government, Local Body, Municipal, Aided, or Model Schools (without Residential Facility).

III. PATTERN OF EXAMINATION

Duration for both MAT and SAT is **180 Minutes** (3 hours). There is **No Negative Marking**.

Mandatory Steps for Beneficiaries

Selected students must open a **joint Savings Bank Account with their parents** in any S.B.I or Nationalized Bank. The account should be **seeded with the Student Aadhaar**.
Every selected student must complete **OTR Registration** and submit their application on the **National Scholarship Portal (NSP)**: www.scholarships.gov.in.
The concerned **Institute Nodal Officer (INO)** and **District Nodal Officer (DNO)** must verify the application through their respective logins. Failure to complete this process will result in the student not receiving the scholarship.
Students should frequently check their Student Login on the NSP for the payment status. The Ministry of Education, New Delhi sanctions the amount, which is disbursed via the **Aadhaar Based Payment System**.

VI. GOVERNMENT ORDERS (G.O.)

G.O Rt No.713 dated 25/09/2008:

Permitted the Director of Government Examinations to collect examination fees: Rs. 100/- for O.C/B.C and Rs. 50/- from S.C/S.T.
G.S.MS.No.46 Dated 19-04-2025:

Relates to the Sub-classification of Schedule Castes into three groups (Group I, Group II and Group III).

VII. PARENTAL INCOME ELIGIBILITY

A key eligibility criterion for the NMMS is the parental income. The candidate’s parental income should be **below** the specified threshold from all sources.
