AP Special TET for In-Service Teachers – August 2026

The Government of Andhra Pradesh, Department of School Education has released the Information Bulletin for Special TET for In-Service Teachers – August 2026. The notification and information bulletin were issued on 24 August 2026, and eligible in-service teachers can submit their applications online through the APTET website.

Candidates must first register and obtain a Journal Number. The Journal Number alone does not mean that the application is complete. Candidates must pay the prescribed fee and finally submit the online application within the specified period.

Who Can Apply?

The Special TET is intended for in-service teachers, including regular and minimum-time-scale teachers working in Government, Local Body, APREIS, Government Welfare Societies Residential Schools, AP Model Schools, Private Aided Schools and teachers working in other Government departments, subject to the prescribed qualifications.

The bulletin specifies that:

• SGTs and LFL Head Masters with both D.El.Ed and B.Ed qualifications can appear for Paper-I.

• School Assistants, TGTs, Language Pandits and High School Head Masters can appear for Paper-II.

• School Assistants working as PS HMs should appear for Paper-II in their concerned subject.

Special TET Examination Pattern

The examination consists of two papers. All questions are Multiple Choice Questions, with one mark for each question and no negative marking. Each paper contains 150 questions for 150 marks and has a duration of 2 hours 30 minutes.

Language-I options include Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Odiya.

Paper-II – Classes VI to VIII

Paper-II consists of:

• Child Development & Pedagogy – 30 marks

• Language-I – 30 marks

• Language-II – English – 30 marks

• Mathematics & Science – 60 marks
  or

• Social Studies – 60 marks

• Language – 60 marks, as applicable to the concerned subject structure.

Pass Marks

The pass criteria for the Special TET are:

Application Process

Candidates should:

1. Visit the official APTET website.

2. Register by entering the required basic details.

3. Obtain the Journal Number.

4. Create login credentials.

5. Upload the required photograph and signature.

6. Enter educational qualification details.

7. Select the applicable paper.

8. Preview and verify all details.

9. Submit the application.

10. Pay the required fee.

11. Take a printout of the completed application for future reference.

The bulletin specifically instructs candidates to keep a photograph of 3.5 × 3.5 cm ready and ensure that the scanned photo/signature image is in JPEG format and does not exceed 50 KB.

Application Fee

The prescribed fee is ₹1,000 for each paper. Candidates appearing for multiple papers must pay the fee separately for each paper. The payment and online application submission window is from 25 August 2026 to 24 September 2026.

Hall Tickets

Hall tickets are scheduled to be available from 5 October 2026 onwards through the official APTET website.

Certificate Validity

The bulletin states that the Special TET certificate shall be valid for lifetime, subject to applicable NCTE guidelines and future modifications. It also states that there is no restriction on the number of attempts for acquiring the APTET certificate.
