Andhra Pradesh Government Issues Amendment to BC Welfare List – G.O.MS.No.6 (11-09-2025)
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has issued a new order under the Backward Classes Welfare Department amending the caste description in the official BC list.
As per G.O.Ms.No.6, dated 11-09-2025, the caste "Goud" prefix has been removed from the Settibalija community after objections were raised. The government has clarified that Ediga, Gowda (Gamalla), Kalalee, Goundla, Settibalija, and Srisayana (Segidi) will be issued caste certificates individually by their specific caste names without the "Goud" prefix.
This amendment modifies the earlier G.O.Ms.No.1793, Education Department, dated 23-09-1970, which classified Socially and Educationally Backward Classes into Groups A, B, C, D, and E.
👉 With this change, caste certificates in Andhra Pradesh will now clearly mention the applicant’s caste name without any unwanted prefixes.
This step ensures clarity, recognition, and respect for each community under the Backward Classes list in Andhra Pradesh.
