 Andhra Pradesh Launches TaRL Program for Classes 3–5 in Academic Year 2025-26

TaRL in Andhra Pradesh: Boosting Reading & Math Skills (2025-26)

The Andhra Pradesh School Education Department, under Samagra Shiksha, has officially announced the implementation of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) Program for students of Classes 3 to 5 across all schools in the state for the academic year 2025-26.

The TaRL initiative, developed in partnership with the Pratham Education Foundation, was first introduced in the state during the academic year 2022-23. The program is designed to strengthen foundational learning in language and mathematics, ensuring that every child gains essential reading and numeracy skills.

Unlike traditional classroom methods that focus only on age and grade-level learning, TaRL emphasizes the actual learning level of the child. Using CAMaL methodology (Combined Activities for Maximized Learning), students are engaged through interactive activities in large groups, small groups, and one-on-one sessions. This child-centric approach ensures that slow learners receive additional support to improve their academic progress.

To aid in effective classroom practices, TaRL Teaching-Learning Material (TLM) kits have already been supplied to cluster complex high schools for distribution to schools with Classes 3 to 5. These kits will play a key role in supporting teachers during classroom instruction.

The District Education Officers (DEOs) have been directed to instruct schools to start implementing the TaRL program from September 15, 2025, as per the academic calendar. With this initiative, the state aims to significantly improve basic literacy and numeracy outcomes, aligning with its long-term vision of providing quality education for all children.
